Your October Glow Guide ☺️
Share
October has always felt like a gentle turning point for me. It’s not loud or dramatic; it doesn’t announce itself with fireworks. But every year, when this month comes around, I find myself naturally pausing, breathing deeper, and resetting; in life and in beauty.
We’re in that sweet space between the year’s warmth and the sparkle of the holidays. The light changes, the air feels a little different, and so does my skin. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned since starting Brielle Cosmetics, it’s that your beauty routine should move with the seasons not against them.
In today’s post, I want to walk you through my personal October Beauty Edit : the little shifts I make this month to keep my glow intentional, soft, and lasting.
1. Hydration is the Foundation of Everything 🫦
This is the time of year where, even in Ghana, the weather subtly shifts. My lips start to get a little drier during the day, makeup doesn’t sit quite the same as it did in August, and skin can look a little tired if I’m not paying attention.
So the first thing I always do in October is amp up hydration. Before I think of glosses, blushes, or setting sprays, I focus on the base: clean skin, a light layer of moisturizer, and most importantly; hydrated lips.
Throughout the day, I keep one of my Lip Drips with me at all times. A few drops give my lips that juicy, nourished look without feeling sticky. This is also when I start applying lip oil before bed every night, so I wake up with soft, pillowy lips that make my morning routine easier.
Your lips set the tone for the rest of your face. When they look dry, everything else looks dull. When they glow, it lifts your whole look. ☺️
2. Switch Up Your Application Techniques
One of my favourite parts of the beauty world is how small changes make a huge difference. Around this time of year, I adjust the way I apply my makeup — not the products, just the methods.
Instead of full-on baking under the eyes, I switch to using a powder puff to set only where needed. It gives a softer, blurred finish without drying out my skin. When it comes to lip combos, I lean into layering liners with glosses more intentionally: lining slightly above my natural lip line, blending it in, then applying a gloss or lip oil in the centre. This gives that full, hydrated look without overdoing it.
I also start carrying one extra product in my bag at this time of year: a mini powder puff. I don’t like looking overly matte, but pressing it into smile lines or around the nose mid-day keeps everything looking fresh.
3. Light Doesn’t Mean Less 🫧
October is when I lean into that effortless, radiant look. Not because I’m doing less ; but because I’m doing smarter.
My base tends to get a little lighter: I avoid heavy layers, stick to breathable textures, and focus on enhancing my natural features rather than masking them. Think: a blurred base, soft blush, juicy lips, a touch of mascara, and that Brielle glow.
I think a lot of people associate “transitioning seasons” with dullness, but for me, it’s actually when my skin looks its best — because I give it space to breathe.
4. Don’t Ignore Self-Care
The truth is, beauty isn’t just external. Around this time, when the year starts to get busier and everyone is rushing toward December, I consciously slow down.
I take more time with my skincare. I light candles when I get ready. I apply my lip oils slowly, like it’s a love letter to myself. I pause to breathe before doing my makeup.
Beauty becomes even more powerful when it’s intentional. This is something I’ve learned running Brielle ; yes, we make glosses, blushes, and beautiful products. But what makes them special is the ritual behind them.
5. Your Seasonal Reset Starts Now
October isn’t about reinventing yourself. It’s about refining. It’s about looking at your routine and asking, “What small changes can I make that will make me feel softer, fresher, more grounded?”
For me, that looks like:
Lip oil before bed, every night.
Powder puffs over baking.
Layered liners and glosses.
A hydrated base that lets my skin breathe.
Slowing down and treating beauty like a ritual again.
And most importantly, it’s remembering that this journey; this brand, this glow ; started from that very place. From me wanting to create products that make women feel seen, beautiful, and intentional.
So here’s your reminder: your glow doesn’t have to fade just because the season is changing. If anything, this is your moment to let it evolve. ❤️💋
